THERAPY GROUPS

The Associates of Springfield Psychological offers a number of groups for clients who
benefit from working with others. Giving and taking feedback from a group in a supportive
environment can provide a wealth of information and encourage emotional growth. The
normalizing of one’s thoughts and feelings by working with others who have similar issues
can bring great relief to participants. Most groups meet on a weekly basis. An individual
session with the therapist leading the group is required to decide if the group will be an
appropriate experience for the client. Requests for a new group or a group with a specific
topic will be considered and created if possible. Current groups and locations are:


Springfield Office
Adolescent Group: 10th grade through 12th grade High School Students
        Mondays 5:45 – 6:45 pm
        Issues: depression, anxiety, school adjustment, family and parent
        difficulties, socialization, peer problems, and life transitions.

        Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:30 pm
        Issues: depression, anxiety, college adjustment, life planning, decision
        making, and relationships.

        Thursdays 7:45 – 8:45 pm
        Issues: depression, anxiety, relationships with peers and parents, and
         self-esteem.

        Wednesdays 7:30 – 8:30 pm
        Issues: depression, anxiety, family and parent conflict, socialization
        and dating, school and authority challenges, and life transitions.

        Tuesdays 7:00 – 8:15 pm
        Issues: self-esteem, family conflicts, separation and divorce, cultivating
        friendships, parenting concerns, step-parenting concerns, depression
        and anxiety, anger, dealing with criticism, being single, being married,
        being alive.

        Thursdays biweekly 7:15 – 8:15 pm
        Issues: depression, anxiety, development of self-confidence and self-
        esteem, coping skils, and interpersonal relationship. Supportive and

        Issues: depression, anxiety, peer problems, low self-esteem, relationship
        issues, coping skills, family discord, and bullying.

        Issues: managing anxiety, increasing positive coping skills, develping
        self-confidence, socialization, and peer issues. Supportive and psycho-

        Issues: improving social skills, building positive coping strategies, improving

        Issues: anxiety, depression, cutting, eating disorders, stress
        management, guided imagery, mindfulness to develop self-awareness and
        make better choices. Art therapy technique.
